In addition, you will receive your mated Ligustica queen, which you will place in your hive with the bee swarm. Ligustica bees are, among many advantages, especially known for the fact that they start very well into the new season and create a lot of brood. If you want the colony to grow big quickly, Ligustica is definitely the right choice. Before the shipment of bees takes place, we and the official veterinarian perform a complete health check. Apis mellifera ligustica - colony and queen united
The ligustica bee or apis mellifera ligustica bee is a very common bee breed, especially among professional beekeepers worldwide. Originally from Italy, the bee is yellow in color and is common in North America, France, Scandinavia, Australia, England and Israel, among other countries. In Italy, the Ligustica bee was originally native from South Tyrol to Calabria. The Ligustica is considered a relative of the Balkan bee breeds, which, due to its isolation, was able to produce very special characteristics over time. In Italy itself there are still different ecotypes of the Ligustica bee:
- relatively dark, leathery brown Ligustica in the northwest of Italy
- bright yellow to orange in the central north of Italy
- with very light rings in the south of Italy
Much of today's Ligustica breeding takes place in Italy near Bologna as well as in the south. Internationally, also in Germany, in North America, in Australia, in Scandinavia and in Israel mostly the bright yellow variety is bred. In large parts of Italy the Ligustica is declining due to mixing with other breeds. Here in Germany, the Ligustica bee still plays only a minor role.
The enclosed Ligustica queen is from the current year and of course drawn in the current year color. Before the queen is taken out of the mating box, she is of course checked for egg laying. This way the beekeeper can be sure that the queen is mated for sure. After the bees are placed with the queen, they can begin moving into your on-site hive and the regular bee cycle of your young colony.
The advantages of hive mated Ligustica bees:
- Relatively docile and swarm productive, making these bees well suited to beginners
- High yielding for a good honey yield
- Long-lived and robust against everyday resistance and diseases
Of course, our Ligustica bee swarms have already been treated against the Varroa mite before delivery, so that they do not need to be treated again in spring. You will receive healthy and lively young bees.
Buy station mated Ligustica bees
In the case of pollination of Ligustica bees, the queens are mated by the surrounding Ligustica drones. Despite the fact that the queen is an offspring of a purebred queen, this method of mating produces a relatively high genetic biodiversity. At the same time, the typical character and health advantages of the Ligustica bee are preserved.
Numerous advantages with your Ligustica order
In recent years, we have been able to make a name for ourselves as beekeeping professionals - our shipping logistics have been greatly improved, so you don't have to worry about any failures and you keep your bees healthy. We see ourselves as a pioneer in the field of internet trade with bees, as we have co-developed the certified bee shipping. All mated Ligustica swarms are treated against the Varroa mite before shipment and undergo a comprehensive health check by the veterinarian. A health certificate is therefore available - even if you should lose it. Apart from that, you will receive your Ligustica bees exclusively by overnight delivery with a courier, so your bees will be transported gently. Approximately 2-7 days before the shipment, we will let you know the exact date when you will receive your bees so that you can be there on the day of delivery. We expressly point out that the bee mass does not necessarily consist of Ligustica bees, but may possibly also consist of Buckfast or Carnica bees. What we guarantee, as you can see from the description above, is that the queen is a Ligustica queen, so that the colony will be a Ligustica colony. We also point out as a precaution that no breeding certificate is provided with this bee swarm variant.

Bin sehr zufrieden - vielen Dank.
