APICOLTURA Incubator – Technical Precision for Modern Beekeeping

The APICOLTURA series incubators by Fiem are professional devices designed for controlled applications in modern beekeeping. They combine three functions in one system:
the incubation of queen bees, the drying of flower pollen, and the liquefaction of crystallized honey.

Thanks to precise control of temperature and humidity, these incubators are suitable for continuous use in breeding operations and professional apiaries.

Function 1: Queen Bee Incubation

The incubator enables the controlled continuation of queen cell development from the fifth day after grafting until shortly before emergence. During this period, constant temperature and humidity conditions are maintained to ensure uniform queen development.

This method is used to make emergence timing predictable regardless of external weather conditions. After emergence, queens can be removed, marked, and introduced into target colonies within four days.

Function 2: Flower Pollen Drying

By using optional shelves with food-grade micro-mesh trays, the incubator can be used for controlled pollen drying. Forced air circulation ensures even drying under defined conditions.

This function allows hygienic processing of pollen for storage or further use.

Function 3: Honey Liquefaction

Crystallized honey can be liquefied in the incubator at a constant temperature of 40 °C. Honey containers such as jars or buckets are placed directly inside the unit. Uniform heating prevents local overheating and preserves the nutritional and sensory properties of the honey.

Construction and Design

The incubator is designed for long-term operation and features the following construction characteristics:

• Insulated PVC panels with polystyrene core

• Forced ventilation system with electronic motor fan

• Homogeneous air and temperature distribution inside the chamber

• Integrated interior lighting

• Water tray for passive humidity support

• Modular internal structures adaptable to the intended application

Control Unit: MINI LED ADVANCED Thermostat

All models are equipped with the MINI LED ADVANCED thermostat. The control system is based on a powerful microprocessor combined with a self-calibrating temperature and humidity sensor.

In combination with the automatic ultrasonic humidifier, the MINI LED ADVANCED electronic control unit regulates humidity fully automatically according to the detected and preset values. The programmable relative humidity range is between 20 and 90% RH, allowing precise adjustment for different operating requirements.

Commissioning and Operation

Before first use, it is recommended to preheat the incubator for at least 24 hours. For queen cell incubation, a set temperature of 33.3 °C is recommended. The ventilation system operates continuously to ensure uniform temperature distribution.

Safety and Standards

The incubators comply with current EEC directives for electrical safety. The control panel is mounted outside the chamber to protect electronic components from moisture and condensation.
