APICOLTURA Incubator – Versatile Incubator for Queen Bees, Pollen and Honey
The APICOLTURA series incubators by Fiem provide beekeepers with a professional, reliable and controlled working environment for several key tasks in modern beekeeping. In a single unit, they combine three essential functions:
the controlled incubation of queen bees, the gentle drying of flower pollen, and the quality-preserving liquefaction of crystallized honey.
This combination simplifies workflows, consolidates processes and enables reproducible results, regardless of external weather conditions.
Controlled Development of Queen Bees
The incubator allows the safe continuation of the queen cell development cycle from the fifth day after grafting until shortly before emergence. During this sensitive phase, the unit provides constant temperature and humidity conditions, which are essential for uniform, healthy and vigorous queen development.
This incubation method is particularly valued for precise planning of emergence times and for minimizing weather-related risks. Queens can be removed and marked immediately after emergence before being introduced into colonies. For optimal acceptance, introduction within four days after emergence is recommended.
Gentle Drying of Flower Pollen
With optional shelves made of food-grade micro-mesh, the incubator can also be used for the controlled drying of flower pollen. Continuous air circulation ensures even drying without thermal stress on the pollen.
This application is ideal for beekeepers who process pollen for personal use or store and market it as a high-quality natural product. The controlled conditions significantly contribute to quality, shelf life and hygienic safety.
Liquefaction of Crystallized Honey without Quality Loss
Crystallization is a natural process that commonly occurs when honey is stored at temperatures below 14–15 °C. The APICOLTURA incubator allows crystallized honey to be gently and evenly liquefied at a constant temperature of 40 °C.
Honey jars or buckets can be placed directly inside the incubator. Thanks to uniform heating, valuable ingredients as well as taste, aroma and color are fully preserved. This restores honey to its original liquid form without compromising quality.
Thoughtful Design for Daily Use
The incubator features a stable, durable and practice-oriented construction:
-
Insulated PVC panels with polystyrene core
-
Forced ventilation system with electronic motor fan
-
Uniform temperature distribution throughout the interior
-
Integrated interior lighting for easy visual inspection
-
Water trays to support humidity
-
Flexible internal mounts for different applications
Precise Control with MINI LED ADVANCED Thermostat
All models of the APICOLTURA series are equipped with the MINI LED ADVANCED thermostat. This modern control system operates with a powerful microprocessor and a self-calibrating temperature and humidity sensor.
The high control accuracy of ± 0.1 °C for temperature and ± 1.5% for relative humidity allows precise adaptation to different applications.
In combination with the automatic ultrasonic humidifier, the MINI LED ADVANCED electronic control unit regulates humidity fully automatically based on the detected and preset values. The programmable relative humidity range is between 20 and 90% RH, enabling precise control for various beekeeping applications.
Thermostat Functions
-
ON/OFF temperature control
-
3-digit LED display with excellent readability
-
Humidity display and monitoring
-
°C / °F switching
-
Digital sensor calibration function
-
Prepared for optional WiFi module for remote monitoring via smartphone
Operating Instructions and Safety
Before first use, the incubator should be preheated for at least 24 hours to ensure correct temperature regulation. For queen bee incubation, a temperature of 33.3 °C is recommended. The ventilation system operates continuously to ensure homogeneous temperature distribution.
All models comply with current EEC electrical safety directives. The externally mounted control panel reliably protects electronic components from moisture and condensation.
The Fiem APICOLTURA incubator is a well-designed, versatile and professional solution for beekeepers who value controlled conditions, high product quality and flexible applications in queen rearing, pollen drying and honey processing.
